Musculoskeletal conditions are conditions that involve the muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments and joints. They may cause pain and/or limit your movement in some way.
Musculoskeletal pain may be acute, meaning that it is sudden and severe, or chronic, meaning that it is long lasting.
Common musculoskeletal conditions include;
- Back pain
- Neck, shoulder, foot and knee pain
- Hand and wrist problems
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Rotator cuff tendinitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Sciatica
The cause of musculoskeletal problems can vary from person to person, but contributing factors often include;
- repetative or sustained movement
- injury
- poor posture
- general health of the body
The Gloucestershire MSK app (powered by getUBetter) is provided free of charge by Gloucestershire CCG for patients registered at St Catherine's Surgery. It can be accessed on a smartphone or via the web and guides you day-by-day through a sequence of exercises and tips to help you recover from a range of new or recurrent musculoskeletal conditions such as;
- Lower back pain
- Back and leg pain
- Neck Pain
- Shoulder Pain
- Ankle Pain
- Knee Pain
- Soft Tissue Lower Limb Pain
- Hip Pain
You will be referred to the app by a member of our team, or you can self-register by clicking here.
Please use an email address that is unique to you and select the condition you need help to manage - you will then be sent an email with all the information you need to get started.
You can download the Gloucestershire MSK App to your smartphone for easiest access or use the webapp.
If you develop another condition, please select your new condition from within the app and it will be added to your account.
The app will also connect you to your local treatment, healthcare providers or support services, if needed, such as Physiotherapy.
